Terms of use

These terms govern the Atmosphere website, desktop application, official installation files, and related services.

Effective 27 September 2026

Agreement, eligibility, and permitted use

By using Atmosphere, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. You may access the website and install unmodified official builds for lawful personal use. Source-code permissions follow the project license; third-party software and media remain governed by their own licenses. A parent or guardian should supervise anyone unable to agree in their jurisdiction.

Acceptable use

You must not interfere with the service, bypass security controls, distribute malware, misrepresent an unofficial build as official, remove required attribution, infringe rights, scrape or redistribute the media library as a competing stock-media service, overload public hosting, or use Atmosphere unlawfully.

Saved mixes and links

Saved mixes stay on the device. A shared link contains playback configuration and can be used by anyone who receives it. Do not put confidential or personal information in mix names or distribute links where they should not become public. You are responsible for links you share.

Wellness, hearing, and weather

Not medical or emergency adviceAtmosphere is a general relaxation and productivity tool—not medical, therapeutic, sleep, mental-health, or emergency advice. Do not use it instead of professional care.

Keep audio at a safe level, especially with headphones. Do not use the app where reduced awareness could be unsafe, including while driving or operating machinery.

Weather can be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Never rely on it for safety-critical, emergency, travel, marine, aviation, or severe-weather decisions; consult an official local service.

Third-party services and media

GitHub, consented Google Analytics, requested Open-Meteo weather, and credited media providers apply their own terms and privacy policies. Availability can change. Attribution and license details appear on the licenses page and in the machine-readable media register.

The current public deployment uses Open-Meteo's free non-commercial API. Before subscriptions, advertising, or another commercial use begins, the operator must move to a commercial Open-Meteo plan, self-host a compatible service, or remove the feature. Coverr and Pexels content remains subject to restrictions including no standalone resale, stock-library redistribution, misleading endorsement, or prohibited competing services. Creative Commons media must retain its required attribution, license link, and modification notice.

Intellectual property and reports

Atmosphere branding, interface materials, and original project content remain protected by applicable law. The project license grants only the permissions it states. If you believe content infringes your rights, open an issue without sensitive information and request a private channel; identify the work, material, contact route, and basis of the claim.

Updates and availability

Features, media, policies, and support may change. The service may be suspended or discontinued, and access may be restricted to protect the project, users, providers, or law. Install desktop updates only from official repository releases and verify published checksums where available.

Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Atmosphere is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of availability, accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. Maintainers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss, lost data or profits, or reliance on weather or wellness content. Nothing excludes mandatory consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

General

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms do not transfer ownership of Atmosphere or third-party content. Mandatory law and consumer-jurisdiction rules remain controlling.
